Assistant Research Technician

Position Summary:
We have two exciting opportunities to join our team as an Assistant Research Technician and Research technician in the Mohr/Wilson lab at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. Duties include rodent tissue isolation, culture of primary cells and established cell lines, lentivirus production, transfection, immunoblotting. Experience with neuronal cell culture is a plus. Salary and position level commensurate with experience.
Job Responsibilities:
- Participates and performs other related duties as required.
- Lab Duties - Basic lab duties under general supervision as well as more advanced duties under direct supervision. Performs routine technical tasks, and is expected to help with the routine processing of clinical samples from research protocols.
- Assists in Developing Procedures - Assists in implementing new procedures and protocols to support experiments. Participates actively in developing, recommending and implementing new approved procedures, or modifications to existing protocols and procedures. Maintains and updates technical knowledge.
- Communication/Relationship with Others - Cooperates, communicates and relates well to all levels of Medical Center. Listens carefully to others in order to respond appropriately, answer questions or obtain needed information. Communicates ideas, problems, suggestions, and messages in a timely and effective manner. Maintains the confidentiality of all research information. Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Judgment/Decision-Making - Is able to recognize problems as they occur; and through the application of appropriate policy/ procedure, determine and/or recommends the appropriate solution. Seeks guidance as necessary for the performance of duties asks appropriate questions when in doubt and utilizes reference sources/materials to endure accuracy. Advises appropriate personnel of situations/problems requiring intervention or follow-up attention.
Minimum Qualifications:
This is an entry level trainee position with no experience necessary and a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Life Sciences or a related field is preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in biological or chemical science and prior undergraduate lab experience. Applicants should be willing to commit to at least 2 years employment.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $43,800.00 - $50,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
