Early Childhood Teacher - Pre-k
Summary The Teacher is responsible for developing a cohesive teaching team, coordinating the curriculum, and managing the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom. Teachers must understand children’s cognitive, social, emotional and physical development in order to ensure a safe and stimulating classroom environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed. The Teacher must be skilled in communicating with both children and adults in order to meet the needs of the children, effectively guide teacher assistants, and resolve parental concerns. Duties • Have a strong working knowledge of child development and current child development practices, and active learning.
• Establish and maintain a safe, healthy and nurturing learning environment
• A strong understanding of child development.
Design and implement an age appropriate classroom/learning environment
Create an environment that values the inclusion of all children
• Appropriately and productively respond to the needs of both the children and parents in the classroom
Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions, progress reports, and parent-teacher conferences.
• Use development assessment tools
Supervise teacher assistants and classroom volunteers to ensure they are following planned activities, hygiene and safety standards.
• Apply team-oriented problem solving skills
Maintain accurate records, forms and files.
• Committed to professional growth and development
• Use clear, direct communication style (written and verbal) Requirements · Abide by OCFS regulations and NAEYC Standards
· Be responsible, reliable, and dependable
Must clear full background check and must pass health screening. Nice To Haves 2 years of experience teaching young children
