Afterschool Elementary and Middle School Debate Teacher Position for the 2025-2026 School Year

Contract: 10-month position (September-June). Yearly reappointment based on performance and program need.

Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Debate Teacher to join our team for the 2025-2026 school year. The ideal candidate will have expertise in teaching debate and public speaking and a genuine enthusiasm for engaging students in grades 3-6 in critical thinking and effective communication.

The schedule for this position is Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:30 pm to 5:00pm, and some Saturdays from 8:00am to 4:00pm based on tournament dates.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and teach debate lessons for students in grades 3-6, creating an engaging and supportive learning environment.
• Inspire students to develop confidence, critical thinking, and public speaking skills through lively debates and interactive activities.
• Organize and coordinate student debates and public speaking events, encouraging students to showcase their skills and engage in intellectual discussions.
• Collaborate with colleagues to integrate debate and public speaking education with other academic disciplines.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff to support student development and progress.
• Assess student progress and adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs.
• Promote a positive and inclusive environment that encourages all students to participate and excel.
