Assistant General Manager
Hank’s Bar is a hospitality-first cocktail bar in the heart of Bushwick, built on consistency, strong systems, and a genuine commitment to taking care of people. Our program is centered on classic cocktails, executed with precision in a high-volume environment, with a focus on doing the fundamentals exceptionally well. The team here is made up of seasoned professionals who take pride in their work, support each other, and hold a high standard across the board.
We’re looking for an Assistant General Manager who can meet that standard.
This is not a stepping stone role for someone figuring things out. We’re looking for someone who already brings something to the table; and more importantly, someone we see it in too. You should be driven, coachable, and not thrown off by hearing “no” or “not yet.” At the same time, you should be someone who wants to grow into more responsibility, develop as a leader, and ultimately be capable of running a room at the highest level.
You should be comfortable taking charge, leading a team, and also taking direction from ownership and the GM. This role requires strong presence, good judgment, and the ability to manage both people and pace during high-volume service.
Requirements:
Minimum 5 years of NYC hospitality experience
Prior bartender experience, with the ability to execute classic cocktails properly under
pressure if needed
Previous AGM experience or at least 2+ years in a management role within food &
beverage
Availability to work Fridays, Saturdays, and part of Sunday
Core Responsibilities:
Support the GM in day-to-day operations and step into the GM role when needed
Help drive operational goals, systems, and service standards
Lead the floor during service, ensuring the team is performing at or above expectations
Manage staff scheduling and communicate clearly with the team
Assist with inventory, ordering, and maintaining pars
Support and execute events and private parties
Maintain a high level of hospitality at all times, for guests and staff alike
Stay aware of industry trends while remaining grounded in our style of service

Physical & Operational Expectations:
Ability to stand and work for extended periods (8+ hours)
Capable of lifting and carrying up to 40 lbs
Comfortable with the physical demands of a fast-paced bar environment
Strong organizational and multitasking skills
Clear communication and fluency in English
Consistent professionalism, punctuality, and attention to detail
Working knowledge of POS systems (Micros or similar preferred)
Ability to maintain discretion and handle sensitive information
Additional Strengths:
Experience in high-volume cocktail bars or similar environments
Multilingual
Basic understanding of financials, reporting, and cost controls
Familiarity with inventory systems and data analysis
