Overview Microsoft Advertising is at the forefront of the digital advertising industry, providing top advertisers worldwide with the tools to grow their reach through various online marketing, display, video, and retail solutions. We are looking for an Analytical Lead who is driven by data and its potential to influence business strategies and produce tangible results. As an Analytical Lead, you will generate insights and recommendations that directly benefit our clients, enhancing their business performance and opening up new investment avenues on our Microsoft Advertising platform. Your role involves synthesizing industry knowledge, digital marketing expertise, and advanced analytical methods to craft compelling data stories that sway decision-makers using visualizations and narrative techniques. You should possess solid analytical, problem-solving, and consulting abilities, along with a proactive, challenging mindset and excellent partnership management skills. Starting January 26, 2026, Microsoft AI (MAI) employees who live within a 50- mile commute of a designated Microsoft office in the U.S. or 25-mile commute of a non-U.S., country-specific location are expected to work from the office at least four days per week. This expectation is subject to local law and may vary by jurisdiction. Responsibilities- Application of Data: Leverages appropriate sources of data, determines optimal statistical methods for integrating data, and identifies and addresses gaps and/or quality issues in data, in partnership with both internal and client teams.
- Data Analysis: Determines appropriate analytical techniques to address business questions, executes analyses and interprets results with actionable recommendations, and partners to build on others' analyses and forecasting. Critically evaluates the choice of tools, techniques, and assumptions to ensure they are appropriate within context and provides feedback on features and functions.
- Improvement, Efficiency, and Innovation: Stays abreast of data privacy and governance rules and regulations and is aware of where to seek further expertise on such rules and regulations when needed. Determines the impact of updated guidance on work activities and results and ensures work products are delivered in alignment with principles and controls.
- Orchestration and Collaboration: Works within and across internal and client teams to deepen expertise in data sources, methodologies, models, analytical tools and processes, and business and client needs by industry vertical to deliver results. Engages stakeholders to identify and act on opportunities to leverage resources and solutions that were instrumental to success in similar contexts, and consults with client teams on decisions related to analyses and their interpretations.
- Presentation of Results: Develops elements of internal and client-facing presentations that tell stories of analyses, reports, data visualizations, self-service platforms, key performance metrics, and talking points. Evaluates presentations and makes recommendations for improvements as appropriate. Seeks to build trust with clients and ensures presentations are accessible, provide information accurately and clearly, and appropriately speak to the needs of the senior-level stakeholders both internally and externally.
- Understanding Client's Business: Develops a depth of understanding of clients' businesses across industry verticals, taking relevant industry trends, clients' value proposition, and the competitive landscape into consideration to anticipate clients' business problems and identify business opportunities for Microsoft Advertising. Probes for insight to understand problems beyond stated concerns, begins to connect themes across work activities, and anticipates potential business questions.
- 2+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis
- OR equivalent experience.
- 2+ years experience using tools such as PowerBI/Tableau, DAX, R, SQL for data manipulation and visualization on large datasets.
- Dynamic and creative critical thinking skills, with an ability to think outside of the box.
- Solid ability to communicate complex analyses to a mix of both technical and non-technical partners and clients.
- Experience utilizing analytical tools to turn massive, dynamic datasets into actionable insights.
- Comfort and enjoyment with working in ambiguous environments.
- Solid communication skills to work with partners in various areas of Microsoft Advertising.
- Experience pairing data visualization with storytelling to deliver persuasive presentations that influence varying audience levels.
- Experience conducting, interpreting, and clearly communicating measurement analyses (e.g., incrementality, attribution, lift studies) to inform client decisions.
- Experience and proficiency using PowerBI/Tableau, DAX, SQL for data manipulation and visualization. Working knowledge and familiarity in a combination of the following data manipulation and visualization tools is a plus: Python, R, PowerPivot, Microsoft Advertising API.
- Working knowledge of statistics, predictive modeling and data clustering/classification techniques.
- Infectious sense of enthusiasm, fun, and imagination to contribute to high-performing team culture.
- Comfort working in an agile and constantly-evolving environment while thriving amid ambiguity.
- Ability to travel 25% - 35% (air travel may be required), as appropriate.
- 4+ years experience in statistics, mathematics, analytics, data science, engineering, computer science, marketing, business, data analysis and reporting, business intelligence, business and financial analysis, or related field
- OR equivalent experience.
- 4+ years experience using tools such as PowerBI/Tableau, DAX, SQL for data manipulation and visualization on large datasets.
- Experience in the Financial Services (Credit Cards, Banking) industry.
- 4+ years in a partner or account management/client service/client-facing role.
- Experience in digital media, data analysis, measurement, and data management.

Advertising Insights IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $85,100 - $169,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $112,000 - $185,300 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
