Meat Cutter
Description
Our store is known for providing fresh, high quality items for customers. As a member of our meat department you will comply with all health department standards to wrap and cut meat for customers. A typical day can include cutting a variety of meat, wrapping it in appropriate packaging, creating and maintaining displays and providing excellent customer service.
In order to comply with NYS labor requirements, staff in this role must be 18 years of age or older. This department typically is staffed before our store opens at 7AM and through 5PM or later to meet business needs. Provides friendly, prompt, and professional customer service Answers questions from customers about specialty meat cuts and other questions Proper stocking and rotation of merchandise Performs tasks such as, but not limited to: packaging, weighing, labeling, cleaning, cutting and merchandising of products to ensure fresh, high quality, profitable offerings Ensures cleanliness of meat aisles, storage areas, and work areas; includes but is not limited to: cleaning/organization of shelves and products, keeping floors free of spills, removing hazardous debris from floor, sweeping/mopping Responsible for proper inventory control to maximize product freshness and availability Monitors product and supply inventories and notifies manager when product levels are low or empty Stocks, fills, faces products and displays Ensures labeling and pricing accuracy Is aware of case/cooler temperatures and communicates any concerns regarding proper temperatures or safety Ensures all equipment is in working order and safe; alerts management when safety or cleanliness is a concern Assists in the unloading and proper storage of deliveries Receives and inspects deliveries to ensure proper inventory and accuracy Follows proper housekeeping and cleaning standards Maintains clean, safe and sanitary meat department area and equipment Requires operating and using equipment such as, but not limited to: meat saws, grinders, vacuum sausage makers, knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, carts, sanitizing equipment and labeling machines Maintains a positive work environment with fellow employees throughout the store Expected to be familiar with the entire store and it’s layout to ensure top customer service Expected to assist other departments as neededExpected to monitor cleanliness and safety throughout the entire store Expected to arrive to work on time and consistently maintain work schedule.

Knowledge of perishables/Meat is required
Ability to operate equipment; including, but not limited to: knives, meat saws, vacuum sausage makers, scales, wrappers, grinders and slicers Excellent communication skills in order to ensure excellent customer service Outgoing, friendly, neat and professional Able to provide and receive constructive feedback Reliable and dependable; able to work flexible schedule Ability to interact effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures Ability to solve practical problems Ability to perform repetitious activitiesSpecial Instructions
