Research Associate
The Department of Population Health Sciences at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City is recruiting a doctoral level research associate to join Dr. Sean Murphy's research laboratory in the Division of Comparative Effectiveness and Outcomes Research.
Dr. Murphy's Lab works in a team science environment to provide rigorous economic evidence on interventions for people with substance use disorders, HIV, and related conditions that can improve clinical, public-health, and economic outcomes. Dr. Murphy is a leading expert in designing and conducting comprehensive economic evaluations alongside clinical trials and cohort studies across a multitude of domestic and international settings, including criminal-legal, primary care, emergency department, and substance use treatment. This position is an opportunity to join a dynamic multidisciplinary team of faculty, research scientists, and research staff, while building professional relationships with prominent substance use researchers, nationally and internationally. This is a full-time, annual appointment with the possibility of renewal based on performance and funding. The ideal candidate will be a quantitative researcher with experience using advanced econometric and biostatistical approaches to analyze person-level data. Experience applying these skills in the field of behavioral health and experience working with large health insurance claims-based analytic files are valuable but not required. Specific Qualifications Include- PhD in health economics, health services research, health policy, or a related field
- Programming skill in at least one statistical or computational language (Stata, SAS, R)
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Ability to contribute to multiple research projects effectively with excellent time management skills
- Lead economic analyses with guidance from Dr. Murphy
- Collaborate with internal and external research teams on manuscripts, presentations, and other dissemination products, including roles as a lead or contributing author.
- Produce high-quality results and displays for manuscripts, presentations, and other dissemination products
- Support data acquisition and management activities for primary and secondary data sources
- Collaborate with Dr. Murphy on preparing grant proposals

Salary established below per annum commensurate with qualifications experience: $97,850 - $113,145 Weill Cornell Medicine provides the above salary range in compliance with the New York City law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range listed is for fulltime employment not including bonuses, clinical incentive compensation, or benefits. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors including but not limited to internal equity, specialty, training, and hospital/community needs.
