PCU Registered Nurse Job Details

• Assignment Type: Locum tenens (travel nursing contract)
• Location: Meriden, Connecticut 06451
• Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Step-Down (Pav C Step Down)
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts
• Hours per Week: 36 (3 x 12-hour shifts)
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks, with potential extension
• Start Date: October 6, 2025
• End Date: January 6, 2026
• On Call: Every other weekend; rotating holidays
• Floating: May float between Critical Care and PCU as needed
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1990 - $2040

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license (Connecticut RN license preferred for local candidates)
• At least 1 year of recent experience in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or Step-Down Unit (2+ years preferred)
• Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification (one-year certification required)
• Experience with Epic EMR strongly preferred
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• Ability to float to ICU/Critical Care units based on skillset

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the Progressive Care/Step-Down Unit
• Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions, recognizing and responding to changes promptly
• Administer medications, treatments, and interventions as ordered by healthcare providers
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Accurately document patient care in Epic EMR
• Float between PCU and Critical Care units as required
• Participate in rotating weekend and holiday coverage as part of the nursing team
