Quality Assurance / Quality Control Technician and Inspector

Job Location: Rochester, NY

Quality Assurance Inspector Duties and Responsibilities:
• Follows general inspection guidelines to conduct critical non-routine visual, dimensional, mechanical, electrical test and functional inspection on a wide variety of components, assemblies, equipment, systems,
supplies and materials.
• Performs complex and critical inspection procedures, requiring special set-ups of new or unique equipment and interpretation of test data from a variety of sources.
• Conducts Receiving inspection of mechanical and electronic parts and assemblies.
• Performs in-process inspections.
• Conducts outbound inspection and audits of new and repaired products. Performs routine and non-routine tasks requiring the operation and application of metrology and calibration equipment.
• Maintains accurate and updated laboratory notebooks and data entry records.
• Maintains supply levels for performance of assigned duties.
• Assists with supplier evaluation and corrective action.
• Interfaces with members of the Mechanical Engineering, Planning/Materials, Production departments.
• Second shift hours might be required.

Qualifications & Skills
• Education A.A. degree, vocational certificate, or equivalent. CMM training highly desirable.
• Experience 3+ years of increasingly difficult inspection experience. GD&T experience required.
• Micro's quality plan is certified to meet the standards of ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100D and our equipment is rigorously maintained and traceable to NIST standards.
• Experience in use of micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, microscopes, optical comparators, etc.
• Knowledge of a wide variety of inspection methods and equipment.
• Applies basic statistical techniques, including statistical process control and sampling plans as defined in ANSI Z1.4 and ANSI Z1.9, to assess the stability of various processes or reduce collected raw data.
• Working knowledge of sophisticated measuring equipment techniques such as coordinate measuring machine.
• Ability to perform complex shop mathematics.
• Attention to detail; able to successfully prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent organization and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to converse with all levels of employees and government officials.
• Must be a US Citizen or US Person as defined by ITAR.
• Excellent understanding of manufacturing processes.

• Vermont VP15 Comparator
• Rahn AA surface plate 48" x 60"
• Knowledge of IPC-A-610 and IPC-W7HMA-A-620A.
• Understand and interpret of engineering drawings and specifications..
Supervisory Responsibilities
• This position may be assigned supervisory responsibilities. An employee serving in this capacity may be asked by the manager to coordinate the activities of other department members in the quality assurance
laboratory and train others in proper procedures. The inspector is required to interact effectively in cross-functional teams dedicated to the resolution of issues in a timely manner.

Education, Training and/or Experience
• Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school plus three years experience; or five to eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and
experience.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Must have excellent hand-eye coordination; be able to perform repetitive hand movements; have close, distance, color, depth and peripheral vision.

Starting Pay: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour DOE
