Med/Surg Telemetry RN Job Details

• Assignment Type: Locum tenens (Travel Nursing Contract)
• Location: Rochester, NY 14626 (New York healthcare jobs)
• Unit: Medical/Surgical Telemetry (MS/Tele)
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), 3 shifts/week
• Weekly Hours: 36
• Contract Length: 13 weeks (Start: 09/22/2025 – End: 12/22/2025)
• Patient Population: Adults, Geriatrics
• Scrub Colors: Navy blue/white
• Orientation: Orientation includes modules prior to starting, a 4-hour classroom session with Educator, and the remainder of the first shift spent orienting on the unit.
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2020 - $2080

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active New York Registered Nurse (RN) license (required at submission)
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience
• BLS certification (American Heart Association preferred)
• EPIC electronic medical records experience required
• Proficient in cardiac rhythm interpretation and dysrhythmia management
• IV therapy and peripheral line care/management skills
• Experience with non-invasive airway management (nasal cannula, oxygen masks, portable oxygen tank)
• Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE protocols
• First-time travel nurses accepted (must have EPIC experience)
• Willingness to float to Med/Surg, ICU, and ED units (within RN scope)
• Every other weekend required
• Not accepting local candidates within 75 miles of Rochester, NY

Med/Surg Telemetry RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients on a busy Med/Surg Telemetry unit
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms; respond to emergencies and activate rapid response teams
• Administer IV therapy, manage peripheral and central lines, and collaborate with phlebotomy team
• Utilize respiratory equipment and provide non-invasive airway management
• Implement isolation precautions and uphold infection control standards
• Document patient care using EPIC electronic health records
• Float to other units (Med/Surg, ICU, ED) as needed, providing care within RN scope
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, PT, RT, pharmacy, social services, etc.)
