The Ice at Canalside is seeking a dedicated and reliable Ice Technician to join our team for the upcoming winter season. In this role, you will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of a safe, high-quality ice surface for thousands of patrons to enjoy at Buffalo's premier waterfront destination. Responsibilities

• Ice Maintenance: Perform daily ice resurfacing, flooding, and edging using ice resurfacing equipment (Zamboni, etc.). Repair and maintain the ice surface throughout the day to ensure optimal quality and safety for skaters.
• Equipment Operation: Operate and perform routine maintenance and safety checks on all ice-making equipment, including the Zamboni and other ice surface equipment.
• Safety and Regulations: Ensure the rink and surrounding areas meet all safety standards and operational requirements. Respond to emergent situations quickly and effectively.
• Winter Operations: Assist with general groundskeeping, which includes snow and ice removal from walkways and other areas surrounding the rink.
• Team Collaboration: Work effectively with other staff, including rink attendants and management, to provide a positive experience for all visitors.
• General Facility Support: Assist with general maintenance and other duties as assigned to support overall winter operations at Canalside.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience operating an ice resurfacer (Zamboni) is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of ice-making principles is a plus.
• Basic mechanical aptitude for performing minor equipment repairs and maintenance.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, particularly during inclement weather.
• Comfortable working outdoors in cold and varying weather conditions.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Reliable, responsible, and able to work effectively with limited supervision at times.
