Java Developer - Server Side (Associate)

This is a Software Engineering position at Associate level, which is part of the job family responsible for developing and maintaining software solutions that support business needs.

FARMS (Finance Allocation & Redistribution Management System) team is part of Finance Technology and manages a suite of applications which fulfill the responsibility of ensuring that the correct balances are allocated the appropriate legal entities and cost centers based on business rules. The system ensures that support service costs are allocated to the corresponding product area cost center. In addition, it also ensures that Revenues and Expenses are allocated to appropriate legal entities based on business rules decided in agreement with Tax and regulatory authorities. The system provides data for Firm’s financial reports and ensures that the Firm pays appropriate amount of Taxes.

We are a team of 6 developers skilled in various technologies and are looking to welcome a team member skilled in Java/Spring Boot framework and looking to work in a fast-paced environment as part of a global team and work on delivering various critical solutions to the Finance team. This role requires strong technological and analytical skills. Working on the team will give the opportunity to apply a diverse set of technologies including Java, Angular, Spark, C#, ASP.net, Sybase, DB2, Spark, Snowflake and Business Objects. 

Required skills:

• 2-4 years of experience in Java Server Side development with multi-threaded programming

• Relational Database skills: Ex:DB2, /Sybase

• Strong debugging, trouble shooting and performance tuning skills

• Spring boot Framework

• Linux/Unix skills

• Data representation in formats such as CSV/XML/JSON

• Familiarity with Build integration (Gradle, Jenkins etc.)

• Familiarity use of version control (Git preferred)

• Familiarity with using AI tools -GitHub Copilot/Claude)

• Ability to work as part of a fast-paced global team and deliver to aggressive timescales

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $90,000 and $150,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
