Director- Military Outreach & Veteran Partnerships
Reporting to the Executive Director, Strategic Partnerships and Alliances, the Director, Military Outreach & Veteran Partnerships, helps to set the strategic direction for the continued recruitment and support of active military and veteran students and their families. With 51% of Excelsior’s current student population being active military or veterans, the university has vowed a strong commitment to educating our armed forces. In addition to a focus on the strategic direction for the military outreach vertical, the Director will design and implement initiatives aimed at recruiting military and veteran students while contributing to the financial success of the department. Strong preference will be given to military veterans or those with ample practice working with active military. Additionally, the ideal candidate would possess a strong knowledge of military and veteran educational benefits, have practice in or knowledge of higher education, and posses a master’s degree from a regionally accredited university (bachelor’s required). This is a full-time (37.5hrs/wk.) remote position, however, candidates must be located within Norfolk, VA or San Diego, CA or surrounding areas. Travel to surrounding bases and recruiting engagements (less than 20%) may be necessary. Competitive benefits include 17 paid holidays, and 19 days PTO in the first year.Qualifications
»Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited College/University
» 5 years' practice serving in the military or working closely with active military or veteran populations.
» practice managing employees, including goals setting and evaluation.
» broad knowledge of military structure and operations as well as an knowledge of the unique needs of active and veteran military and their families.
»Strong knowledge of active military and veteran's educational benefits (i.e. GI Bill, Chapter 35 VA Benefits, etc.).
» capability to utilize data to deal with complex problems.
» capability to motivate and lead direct reports.
»Excellent interpersonal expertise and a demonstrated capability to work with diverse members of the college community including students, faculty, staff, administrators, and accreditors.
»Demonstrated capability for effective organizational expertise and capability to connect to the institutional strategy while displaying attention to detail.
»Advanced verbal and written communication expertise.
» capability to analyze complex problems, interpret needs, and develop integrated, creative solutions.
