Job Overview:
Title: Scenic Finish Carpenter
Rate : $35 - $55/hr (based on previous experience)
Job Description: We are looking for skilled and passionate carpenters to join our talented roster.. In this role, you will be responsible for installing various scenic pieces for a wide variety of projects. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring safe and efficient operations and installations.
What you’ll do:
- Install complex scenic pieces per drawings or plans.
- Collaborate with production teams to assess and fulfill scenic requirements.
- Conduct safety inspections and adhere to codes and safety standards.
- Troubleshoot scenic issues swiftly during installation, quickly solving problems and documenting accordingly.
- Assist in the setup and teardown of equipment before and after events.
- Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring everything is in good working order.
- Complete a Daily Timesheet to capture labor hours worked for each day.
- Complete construction, assembly, fit-out, and finishing of installation tasks.
- Report any missing or non-working tools & equipment
- Ensure that workspaces are clean, organized, and free of hazardous materials.
- Stay informed about the latest technologies and trends in entertainment installation work.
Base Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a carpenter, ideally in the entertainment and commercial sector.
- Strong knowledge of scenic construction practices and rigging.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Ability to understand visual/illustrative methods and design
- Ability to work independently and lead others as required
- Proficient in working with a wide range of materials; glass, wood, plastics, acrylics, laminates, graphics, metals, etc.
- Demonstrates awareness of all health and safety protocols
- Pays attention to detail, demonstrating awareness of both the project and the site as a whole
- High physical activity: lifting, bending, stretching & must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic computer skills.
- Willingness and availability for overnight travel
- Valid driver’s license
- Available to work extended hours and travel for months at a time
Preferred Qualifications:
- Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA30, SST, NEC) are a plus.
- Prior experience in Installation and Architainment a plus.
- Ability and certification to operate forklifts and aerial lifts effectively.
