Our mission at Classic Harbor Line (CHL) is to exceed expectations of hospitality aboard our multi-passenger classic yachts.

Our captains ensure the safe operation of our vessels at CHL and lead our crew in safety and hospitality.

Responsibilities include:

• Ensuring passenger and crew safety at all times.
• Providing the appropriate cruise, narration and route based on cruise schedule.
• Operating the vessel in a safe manner based on weather conditions and crew ability.
• Leading crew through start up and shut down of the vessel based on shift.
• Hosting pre and post trip meetings with all staff onboard.
• Follow all local and federal navigation rules in NY Harbor.
• Leading crew to keep the vessel tidy at all times: windows, cabin, cushion, heads
• Reporting vessel deficiencies and mechanical issues to operations manager & engineer.
• Maintaining good crew dynamics onboard to ensure a pleasant experience for our guests and crew.
• Conducting pre and post trip inspections of vessel machinery: Fluid checks, electronics, rigging
• Wears Classic Harbor Line Uniform at all times while on a cruise.
• A complete understanding of the vessel's emergency procedures and station bill.
• Complying with and enforcing established policies and procedures.
• Additional job duties as assigned to assist other departments

Skills and Other Requirements

• Valid USCG License for appropriate vessel: minimum 50 Gross Ton Inland Master for our smaller vessels
• Valid USCG Medical Certificate
• Valid First Aid and CPR certification
• Valid FCC Marine Radio Operator Permit (MROP)
• A good foundation of marlinespike seamanship: Knot tying, line handling
• Adept at boat handling in crowded environments
• Basic knowledge of marine systems
• Previous experience serving as Master preferred
• Knowledge of New York Harbor preferred
• Ability to pass a DOT 5 Panel Drug Screen.
• Ability to enter a random drug testing program for the term of employment.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends.
• Ability to work outside in all conditions: rain, snow, heat.

Compensation and Benefits

• Starting at $26 per hour plus gratuities
