FACILITIES MECHANIC

Caribbean Food Delights (CFD) a privately owned company, located in Tappan, Rockland County, NY, is the leading manufacturer of Jamaican Style Patties: beef, chicken and vegetable. This state-of -the-art facility, is SQF certified. We are looking for a Facilities Mechanic who will be responsible for keeping the food facility in good working condition. This role supports the daily operations by performing basic maintenance, repairs and inspections to ensure that equipment, building and work areas are safe, clean and functioning efficiently.at all times.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

Perform routine and preventive maintenance on facility structures, including walls, floors, ceilings, doors, docks, and office areas.

Complete minor repairs involving plumbing, electrical systems, lighting, HVAC components, and mechanical equipment.

Repair or replace fixtures such as faucets, valves, hoses, guards, handrails, shelving, tile, and flooring.

Assist with maintenance of food production and packaging equipment under supervision.

Troubleshoot basic mechanical issues and report larger or specialized repairs to maintenance management.

Conduct regular inspections of the facility to identify wear, damage, safety hazards, or sanitation concerns.

Maintain building exterior areas including walkways, drains, loading docks, and waste areas.

Perform painting, caulking, patching, sealing, and general carpentry work.

Support equipment installation, relocation, and breakdown.

Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repairs.

Follow all GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), food safety, sanitation, and safety policies.

Ensure all work areas are clean, organized, and compliant with regulatory standards.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Some equipment maintenance/technical ability.

Minimum 1year related experience.

Some knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, SOP, Pest Control Programs USDA & FDA regulations.

Some computer skills.

Good communication and customer service skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR POSITION WITH OR WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

Frequent walking, bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, frequent verbal communication, prolonged standing; ability to operate food production equipment.
