The Livingston County Water and Sewer Authority is looking for a motivated and focused individual to join our team as a Water/Wastewater Maintenance Worker. We provide water and sewer services to over 7,000 households and businesses in the community. .

What Youll Do

The Water/Wastewater Maintenance Worker position involves the performance of semi-skilled, manual work involving the performance of a variety of maintenance and installation tasks on water mains, hydrants and meters, water and wastewater treatment equipment and pump stations, and electrical and mechanical building systems. The work environment is team-based, motivational and fast-paced. Our mission is to provide high-quality, environmentally-sound, efficient, reliable, and affordable water and sewer services to the people who live, work, and visit Livingston County.

Examples of Important and Essential Duties Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Install and repair water distribution system, including water mains, laterals, hydrants, valves, and meters;

Repair and maintain pumps, motors, air compressors, controls, grit collectors, and a variety of other water and wastewater equipment; Install new or replace water and wastewater mechanical and electrical equipment; Makes taps on water and wastewater mains; Assists in the installation, testing and repair of back-flow prevention devices or directly installs, tests and repairs devices; Pressure tests and chlorinates water mains; Flushes hydrants and operates bleeders; Operates motor and other equipment related to the installation, maintenance and repair of water distribution and wastewater collection systems including back hoes, trucks, air compressors, drills and lathes, sewer cameras and locating devices; Performs traffic control. May perform other manual labor as needed. Reads and records meter readings; Maintains records regarding work performed

Ability to perform semi-skilled and other tasks related to water transmission/distribution and wastewater collection systems; Basic computer skills; ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions; ability to perform heavy labor under all weather conditions; ability to work in confined spaces; dependability; physical condition commensurate to the demands of the position.

What You Need

Graduation from high school diploma or a high school equivalency diploma.

Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid New York drivers license. Experience or familiarity with mechanical, pumps, motors, plumbing, water or sewer systems and operating motorized equipment is desired.

Vacation Leave; Personal Leave; and 12 Holidays per year Salary range is $25.82 $28.50 and is negotiable based on experience. Additional pay and advancement opportunities are available for candidates who currently hold or want to obtain a CDL-A and Grade D and C Water Operators Licenses. Authority provides employee with development and training for advancement.
