About the Position

TravelNurseSource is working with Lancesoft Inc to find a qualified CVOR RN in Schenectady, New York, 12008!

We are seeking an experienced  CVOR Registered Nurse (Open Heart) to join the Cardiothoracic Operating Room team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in open heart procedures and be proficient in both circulating and scrubbing roles in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Circulate and scrub for cardiothoracic/open heart surgical procedures
• Assist surgical team during complex cardiac surgeries
• Maintain sterile field and ensure adherence to surgical protocols
• Monitor patient condition intraoperatively and respond to changes
• Prepare operating room, instruments, and equipment
• Document patient care using Cerner EMR
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical staff

Work Environment:

• Facility: Ellis Medicine – Ellis Hospital
• Unit: Cardiothoracic Operating Room (CVOR)
• EMR System: Cerner
• Setting: Acute Care Hospital

Scheduling & Call Requirements:

• Monday – Friday schedule
• Start time may vary (as early as 6:30 AM)

Call Requirements:

• Every 3rd weekday: 3:00 PM – 6:30 AM
• Every 3rd weekend:
• Friday: 3:00 PM – 6:30 AM
• Saturday: 6:30 AM – 6:30 AM (24 hrs)
• Sunday: 6:30 AM – 6:30 AM (24 hrs)
• No block scheduling; schedule based on facility needs
• Floating required within competency

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 2 years of CVOR / Open Heart OR experience

Mandatory Skills:

• Circulating and scrubbing experience ( required for submission )
• Open heart surgery experience ( required )

Certifications Required:

• BLS (AHA)

License:

• New York State RN License (required at time of submission preferred; can screen without)
