Washington County Veteran's Service Agency is currently accepting applications for

Veteran Service Officer** . An employee in this class assists veterans and their dependents in the preparation and pursuance of claims for benefits under federal, state or local laws. Work involves developing original and reopened claims by obtaining medical and legal evidence, assisting in the preparation of appeals, and advising claimants regarding rights and benefits under the law. An incumbent performs a number of delegated administrative tasks involved in the administration of the agency. Work is performed with considerable independence under general supervision of the Director, Veterans' Service Agency and is reviewed through conferences, reports, and analysis of records. Supervision may be exercised over the work of clerical personnel. Does related work as required.

Currently this is a Civil Service non-competitive position through the HELP Program - No Exam Required. The Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement (HELP) Program temporarily removes the civil service exam requirement for specific titles across State and Local agencies. To be eligible for jobs in the HELP program, candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the position and other conditions of employment. More information may be provided if you indicate interest in the position.**

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

A) Possession of an Associate Degree or higher; OR

B) Completion of a Military Leadership Course such as an Officer Candidate Program, Advanced Officer Course, Sergeant Major Academy, or NCO Academy; OR

C) Honorably discharged combat veteran who has held a rank of NCO or above, with leadership experience during active military duty.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT : Veteran, discharged honorably from any branch of the U.S. Military.

Must obtain CVSO Accreditation by an organization recognized by the Department of Veterans Affairs within 12 months of appointment.

RATE OF PAY : $25.08/hour plus excellent benefits
