PAY & SCHEDULE

Pay Range: $28.00 – $30.00 per hour (based on experience) – potential increase within 90 days

Schedule: Nights, weekends, and holidays are a must

We’re getting ready to reopen a historic Brooklyn Italian red sauce restaurant, bringing it back to life with the same neighborhood spirit—plus a brick oven pizza program we’re really proud of.

This is a place with history, regulars who care, and a team that feels like family. We’re looking for someone who wants to be part of rebuilding something special from the ground up.

THE ROLE

We’re hiring a hands-on Sous Chef / Kitchen Supervisor who can jump on the line, lead by example, and help keep the kitchen running smoothly—especially during busy service.

You’ll work closely with ownership and the Head Chef to set the tone, train the team, and make sure every plate that leaves the kitchen feels right.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

- Work the line and lead service—this is a working role, not a clipboard job

- Help open and re-establish kitchen systems, standards, and flow

- Train and mentor cooks, helping build a strong, reliable team

- Support ordering, vendor relationships, and receiving

- Assist with inventory and cost control (weekly counts, pars, organization)

- Help oversee the brick oven pizza station and overall food quality

- Keep the kitchen clean, organized, and fully compliant with NYC DOH standards

- Step in as the point person when the Head Chef isn’t there

WHO YOU ARE

- You’ve worked as a sous chef or strong kitchen lead for at least a couple years

- You’re comfortable in a busy, no-nonsense red sauce kitchen

- You know how to lead without ego and keep a team steady during a rush

- You have experience (or interest) in pizza / brick oven cooking

- You understand ordering, inventory, and how to keep costs in line

- You’re reliable, communicative, and show up ready to work

- Weekends are non-negotiable

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

- $28.00 – $30.00 per hour, depending on experience with possible pay increase or move to salary within 90 days

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

- On your feet for long stretches

- Able to lift up to 50 lbs

- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hot kitchen

NYC SALARY TRANSPARENCY

In accordance with New York City law, the hourly range for this position is $25.00 to $30.00 per hour, with final compensation based on experience and qualifications.
