5th Grade Maternity Leave Replacement Teacher
Overview
This temporary position will cover a maternity leave from approximately late March through June 2026, with the possibility of transitioning to a full-time role for the 2026-2027 academic year. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated 5th Grade Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering a positive learning environment for students and will be responsible for educating young minds in various subjects. This role requires creativity, patience, and the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students. The 5th Grade Teacher will play a crucial role in developing literacy skills, mentoring students, promoting a love for learning and preparing them for the upcoming New York State Exams.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with curriculum standards.
- Educate students in core subjects, focusing on literacy education and early childhood development.
- Create a supportive classroom environment that encourages student participation and collaboration.
- Assess and evaluate student progress through various methods, providing feedback to enhance learning outcomes.
- Foster relationships with students to support their social and emotional development.
- Utilize library services effectively to enhance learning experiences.
- Collaborate with special education staff to accommodate diverse learning needs within the classroom.
- Mentor students in their academic and personal growth, encouraging a lifelong love for learning.
- Maintain open communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or related field; teaching certification preferred.
- Experience working with children in an educational setting is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of literacy education principles and early childhood education practices.
- Familiarity with special education strategies and resources.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage students effectively.
- Experience in classroom management techniques that promote a positive learning environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and community members.
- A commitment to professional development and continuous improvement in teaching practices.
