Insurance Examiner (3-Month Contract-to-Hire) 📍 Hybrid - NYC Area
Are you detail-oriented, analytical, and experienced in excess & surplus lines? We are seeking an experienced Insurance Examiner for a 3-month contract-to-hire opportunity with a progressive and employee-focused insurance brokerage.
This role plays a critical part in ensuring regulatory compliance and accurate document processing for New York State excess line placements.
Schedule:
- Mondays remote
- 4 days on-site
- Summer Fridays remote
- Additional remote flexibility may be granted based on performance
Key Responsibilities:
- Examine incoming documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
- Determine correct coverage and classification codes
- Verify eligibility for stamping in New York State
- Identify and resolve missing or incorrect information
- Communicate directly with brokers to obtain clarification
- Correct minor clerical errors with broker consent
- Determine proper suspense codes for returned unstamped items
- Apply official stamps in accordance with state laws
- Maintain organized monthly filing of affidavits
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years Property & Casualty or Commercial Lines experience
- Familiarity with Excess/Surplus Lines documentation and terminology
- Strong mathematical skills (premium percentage calculations required)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in general office software and computer systems
Compensation & Potential Benefits Upon Conversion:
- Salary: $60,000–$65,000 (Non-Exempt | Overtime Eligible)
