Nature Specialist - Summer Camp

Camp Is-Sho-Da is seeking an enthusiastic and creative Nature Specialist to lead hands-on outdoor education activities that spark curiosity, confidence, and respect for the natural world. If you enjoy teaching, exploring, getting outside, and helping young people learn through discovery and play, this is the perfect summer role.

You’ll design and lead age-appropriate nature programming while working closely with counselors and camp leadership to create engaging, safe, and memorable experiences for campers.

Camp Is-Sho-Da is located on 100 acres of fields and woods in East Greenbush, NY. Camp Is-Sho-Da is a great option to enjoy all the best of camp for children in kindergarten through grade 12. With hiking trails, a five-acre pond for water activities, a large playfield and facilities for nature study and artmaking, there is always something fun to do. Rustic screened enclosed shelters, platform tents, and covered wagons offer a variety of options for camping.

Camp Is-Sho-Da operates primarily as a day camp, with an overnight experience every Wednesday, providing variety while maintaining a predictable schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

• Planning and leading nature-based programs and activities

• Teaching environmental awareness, outdoor skills, and exploration

• Managing supplies and program spaces

• Supporting camper engagement, safety, and inclusion

• Collaborating with counselors and leadership

• Supporting special events and weekly overnights

Employment Dates 

June 28 – August 14, 2026 

Compensation & Perks 

• Earn $85-$95 per day (depending on experience). 

• Work in the beautiful park-like setting of Camp Is-Sho-Da.

What You Bring: 

• At least 18 years old or high school graduate by June 28, 2026

• Ability to interact positively with youth ages 7 to 17; prior youth-focused work or volunteer experience preferred. 

• Ability to build and maintain positive professional work relationships.
