Job Description
About Us:
Blockworks is a financial media brand that delivers breaking news and premium insights about digital assets to millions of investors. Our content, newsletters, podcasts, and events provide investors with the critical analysis and information they need to make smarter decisions about digital assets.
Who You Are:You’re a confident yet humble sales leader with a deep knowledge of the crypto markets, competitive landscape, and industry lore. While you consider yourself a great salesperson, you're a coach and people-leader at heart and love building high-performing teams. You love leading a team of motivated sellers, and you genuinely get excited about developing the skills and capacity of each team member, in addition to pushing them to achieve their fullest potential.
You know how to run a great sales team and enjoy overseeing and coordinating operational rituals like quota setting, pipeline reviews, and call reviews. You consistently bring strategic thinking to each deal and are proactive in helping break down and win complex deals. You're constantly on the lookout for opportunities to improve processes and help the team get more efficient and effective.
What You’ll Do:As our VP of Sales , you’ll be directly responsible for the day-to-day operations and leadership of our media and subscription sales teams. Reporting directly to one of our Co-Founders, you’ll work in partnership to coordinate, lead, and scale our sales function while ruthlessly prioritizing our ability to hit or exceed our sales and revenue goals.
Every day will look a little different, but in general, you will do things like:
Drive Sales Goals: First and foremost, you'll be on the front line with your team of Brand Partners, helping to aggressively and quickly move business through our sales pipeline while answering questions and inspiring along the way.
Craft Unique Solutions for Protocols: You'll partner with the team to go deep into the unique needs and structures of protocols to help design, pitch, and close complex deals across both foundations and DAOs for some of the biggest brands in crypto.
Coach and Manage Day-to-Day Performance: You'll regularly provide proactive coaching, guidance, and feedback to help improve the knowledge and capabilities of your team.
Facilitate Sales Escalation & Closing: You'll champion the sales escalation process and work directly with the team to close high-value deals while always looking for opportunities to network with decision-makers for top-down deals.
Manage and Improve Sales Operations: From leading weekly kickoffs and call reviews to making sure pipelines are clean and setting quotas, you'll be responsible for managing and improving our overall sales process as we scale.
Onboard, Train, and Mentor New Team Members: You'll have the exciting opportunity to oversee the onboarding, skill development, and results growth of your team by providing consistent learning, feedback, and expertise on sales approaches and methodologies.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: You'll work with other teams across Blockworks, including Research, Events, Podcasts, and Newsletters, as the primary point person to provide Sales updates and bring critical conversations back to your team.
Experimentation is frequent at Blockworks. Comfortability with being uncomfortable is a must.
What You’ve Done Before:For this role, first and foremost, you must have significant knowledge of the crypto industry; interest in crypto is not enough; we’re looking for someone who considers themself crypto native. You have worked in crypto for some time and understand the nuances of selling into protocols. You'll also need to have multiple years of direct sales leadership experience managing a team working across multiple sales channels. During that time, you’ve managed an exceptional track record of building great sales teams and consistently getting results. Lastly, you're results-oriented and have a bias for getting work done.
It’d Be Great If You’ve Done This:Experience and demonstrated success in crypto sales, especially with protocols, will move you to the top of the list. If you have any experience growing a sales team from the ground up in a fast-paced environment, we'd love to hear about that, too. Lastly, we'd love to have someone with the demonstrated ability to analyze results and continuously improve team results based on the outcomes.
Salary, Benefits, & How We Work:This is a full time exempt position with an expected on-target earnings of $300,000/year ($200,000 base, $100,000 variable).
Benefits:Remote-First:
We're a remote-first organization with an office in NYC for you to utilize as you please.
100% Medical Coverage for You:
