Senior Product Manager (Upstream)

SUMMARY
The Senior Product Manager (Upstream) is responsible for leading the upstream product management team at SPR. This individual will serve as a player and coach, providing guidance to upstream product managers as well as partnering with new product development, R&D, and other cross-functional teams to execute voice work, build portfolio plans, and develop new products that meet and exceed customer needs. Will leverage customer and competitive insights to define user needs and formulate commercialization plans that drive product development and support new product launches.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead upstream product management team in the assimilation of customer research and competitive analyses to define user needs for the development of new products; develop commercialization plans for new products and transition/support downstream marketing in the development and execution of formal launch (go-to-market) plans.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop high-impact, value-based products and the supporting commercialization plans.
- Develop and execute voice of customer plans to define user needs and support development of product requirements for new product development.
- Collaborate with new product development team to build long-term portfolio plan that is leveraged to deliver a cadenced product portfolio over time.
- Develop and execute aligned commercial strategies to support growth objectives.
- Collaborate cross functionally (Sales, R & D, NPD) to evaluate product opportunities in alignment with marketing leadership.
- Prepare and execute aligned annual plan in collaboration with business unit stakeholders, marketing, and new product development teams.
- Implement process improvements and leverage teams’ talent to drive best-in-class product marketing.
- Develop working knowledge of all SPR products and clinical trials.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or health-related field, or extensive experience in medical industry. Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in product marketing.
- Successful record of leading and/or managing upstream marketing initiatives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create compelling narratives and effectively present ideas.
- Ability to use insights, data, and statistical analyses to drive decisions and optimize work.
- Highly organized with ability to prioritize.
- Successful track record working in cross-functional teams and leading multiple projects/teams simultaneously.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and collaborate optimally at all levels of the organization. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong sense of urgency, attention to detail.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Ability to get the job done in a “can-do” environment, allowing for flexible hours, depending upon the project and/or customer needs.
- Remote and small office environment.
- Must be willing to travel (~20-30%).
SPR is a multi-state employer so the salary range may increase or decrease depending on location. This position is eligible for annual company bonus. Compensation will be commensurate with level of experience and training and pertinent education among other relevant business or organizational needs.
