Underwriter FinPro/Small Lawyers
About The Role:
We are looking for a pro-active, highly motivated and customer focused Underwriter to join the Lawyers Professional Liability team within Swiss Re Corporate Solutions.This is an underwriting position for a candidate with moderate to limited experience in the US Lawyers or Professional Lines market. The candidate must have extraordinarily strong people skills, patience, and the ability to solve problems. This job requires building strong client relationships. You will be assigned several states (territories) and will be expected to develop strong ties with the appropriate strategic brokerage partners. This will require solid communication, listening, empathy and collaboration skills.
You will be working with brokers/partners and analyzing the insurability of smaller law firms with respect to risk profile, coverage, structure, pricing, and endorsements in comparison to corporate underwriting standards and within your individual authority. Additionally, you will be expected to develop a thorough understanding of the lawyer's policy and our underwriting platform. You will also work with our claims team to understand claim exposures and defenses.
About You:
- 1-3 years of underwriting experience in the lawyers or other E & O market
- Strong desire to learn and build underwriting skillset specialization
- Ability to build good relationships with partners and problem solve
- Good presentation and public speaking skills
- Strong negotiation and analytical skills
- High level of self-motivation and ability to work independently
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Willingness to travel
The position location is flexible to New York City or Chicago. Our company has a hybrid model where the expectation is that you will be in the office or visiting clients three days per week. The estimated base salary range for this position is $105,000 to $180,000. The specific salary offered for any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization of talent, experience, education and employer budget. At Swiss Re, we take a "total compensation approach" when making compensation decisions. This means that we consider all components of compensation in their totality (such as base pay, short and long-term incentives, and benefits offered), in setting individual compensation.
