POSITION OVERVIEW

The Northern Rivers Family of Services Foster Care program is seeking a highly motivated and energetic full-time foster parent Home Finder in the Hudson Valley region. Our Foster Care Program is continually looking for new families to provide homes for children who can't live with their family at this time.
The Home Finding position is responsible for recruiting, training and certifying prospective foster parents. You would be helping children in need by directly finding and supporting their foster families, helping them all to succeed. We are seeking for individuals who have a strong desire and passion to work with and empower youth and families to improve their lives and improve our communities.

What you can expect as a Foster Care Home Finder with Northern Rivers:

»Develop an active recruitment plan for foster parents/homes.

»Plan and participate actively in community events to recruit foster parents, while also developing community network for referrals of potential foster care homes to our program.

» supervise inquiries and applications from potential foster parents.

»Assess suitcapability of potential candidates to be foster parents.

»Facilitate and provide trainings to certify prospective foster parents.

»Provide continuing training and support for certified parents in conjunction with the foster care team.

»Provide management of each certified foster home to ensure agency and state standards are met with their licensure.

»Guide families through the recertification process including the development of a yearly skill development plan with each family, assessing strengths and needs of the foster home.

»Possess excellent writing and organizational expertise to assist hosts with certification process.

» expertise of child welfare system and state requirements in NYS is valuable, but we will train the right person.

»Have a broad expertise of a discipline such as social work, teaching, behavioral science, communications or business administration.

Your Education and practice:

»Bachelor's degree in human services, social work, sociology, psychology, education or related field.

»At least two years of related practice in human services, community development, social work or related field.
