The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly motivated Project Manager to lead the delivery of high-quality software initiatives for our proprietary trading platform. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of technology and collaboration, turning complex goals into actionable plans and guiding teams from concept to deployment. You will work closely with stakeholders and software development teams to define project scope, establish goals, and create detailed roadmaps. Your strong organizational skills, critical thinking, and clear communication will help ensure our projects stay aligned with our business priorities.

What We Do
Group One Trading was founded in San Francisco in 1989, and we've become one of the largest privately held options trading firms in the United States, with a great team located in New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, and San Francisco. We continue to expand our presence on exchanges as the options trading space grows and evolves. Our traders provide competitive liquidity across a broad range of securities. We manage portfolios of thousands of securities and electronically stream two-sided quotes across multiple exchanges. Group One is wholly owned by its founders and employees, and all our trading is proprietary, placing both the rewards for our success and managerial oversight directly in our team's hands.

Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, goals, and deliverables.
- Identify, document, and manage project requirements.
- Develop detailed project plans, including sequencing and dependencies.
- Break down complex projects into clear, achievable milestones.
- Facilitate sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives with development sub-teams.
- Document and prioritize user feature requests.
- Participate in monthly prioritization meetings to review progress, challenges, and next steps.
- Anticipate and address potential roadblocks, escalating when necessary.
- Serve as a communication bridge between technology teams and other departments.
Requirements
- 3+ years of project management experience, ideally in software development or technology-driven environments.
- Proven track record of delivering projects on time and within scope.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and experience facilitating sprint planning sessions.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with project management tools.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable.
- Proactive mindset with the ability to anticipate issues before they become roadblocks.
What to expect as a Project Manager in your first year
Within 1 Month:
- You will complete your initial orientation and become familiar with our environment, our infrastructure, and our business. You will begin a comprehensive, cross-functional training plan to learn more about every aspect of our technology and our firm.
Within 3 Months:
- You will become familiar with active projects, backlogs, and current priorities. You will shadow weekly development sub-team sprint planning meetings to observe team dynamics and processes. You will begin building relationships with key stakeholders, development team members, and leadership.
Within 6 Months:
- You will study for and obtain a Series 57 Securities Trader Representative qualification, enabling you to use all our applications in the production environment. You will take ownership of one or more active projects, managing scope, timelines, and deliverables. You will lead sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives independently.
Within 12 Months:
- You will oversee multiple concurrent projects of varying complexity from initiation to delivery. You will streamline sprint planning and backlog prioritization for increased efficiency and contribute to long-term roadmap planning for the trading platform.
