We are looking for a skilled and qualified maitre d'/head server for a full-time position of 3-4 shifts/week, with set availability for Fri-Sat. Candidates ought to be committed to delivering a high quality of service and working in a busy, fast-paced, and team-oriented setting.

Shifts last approximately 8-9 hours. It is important that applicants demonstrate the ability to work in high pressure situations, self-sufficiency, initiative, excellent knowledge of food and wine (especially coastal Mediterranean and Levantine cuisine), and unparalleled attention to detail and cleanliness, the appearance of the space, end-of-day responsibilities, etc. Candidates must have previous experience with wine service, and familiarity with regional wines of the Mediterranean. Familiarity with spirits and standard cocktails is suggested.

Applicants must possess a NYC Food Protection certificate, or have a Food Protection test scheduled, for official employment.

Wages start at $13.00/hour, plus tips (average $250.00-300.00/night). Candidates with NYC Food Protection Certificate will be considered for $15/h.

• Preparation of restaurant with special attention to order and cleanliness.
• Creating seating plans and managing reservations with Opentable.
• Attending to customers upon entrance and throughout the service.
• Aiding customers in selecting food/beverages, answering any questions, and demonstrating a complete knowledge of our menu.
• Making recommendations for complementary products, upselling various offerings, and offering and successfully selling rotating specials.
• Demonstrating a high level of understanding of our menu, procedures, etc.
• Taking and serving food and beverage orders.
• Ensure restaurant cleanliness during shift, as well as during closing. Direct other FOH staff during open/close.
• Direct/collaborate with other restaurant servers, kitchen/bar staff, and management.
• Address any complaints/problems with a positive attitude.
• Issue bills and accept payment.
• Sign off on end-of-shift checklists (cleaning protocols, tip adjust, locking up) and conduct shift reviews.
• Employ conflict resolution strategies.

Skills

• Previous experience with the OpenTable reservation system and Toast (POS).
• Proven restaurant serving experience.
• Hands-on experience in cashier duties.
• Attention to cleanliness, safety, and hygiene. NYC Food Protection certificate (or test date) is required.
• Patient and customer-oriented approach.
• Excellent people skills and friendly attitude.
• Possessing an excellent knowledge of food and wine.
• Possessing decision-making under pressure.
• Possess self-sufficiency.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $13/h plus tips (average $300-400/night). Candidates with NYC Food Protection Certificate will be considered for $15/h.
