Forklift Operator

Job Summary

Local food manufacturer in Fairport, NY is seeking experienced forklift drivers for 12-hour (2-2-3 schedule) A shift and 8-hour B shifts. This is a full time, temp to hire position. Strict GMP protocols will need to be followed.

Duties

• Operate forklifts to load, unload, and transport materials within the warehouse
• Use RF scanners and other warehouse management systems to move, locate, relocate, stack and count inventory
• Load and unload and palletize shipments efficiently while adhering to general and food safety protocols and heavy lifting guidelines
• Assist with shipping and receiving processes, ensuring safe unload and movement of raw materials throughout the facicility
• Handle materials with care during storage, retrieval, and movement to prevent damage
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the warehouse workspace to promote safety and efficiency
• Conduct routine inspections of heavy equipment to ensure mechanical integrity and report any issues promptly
• Support warehouse supervision by following operational procedures related to materials handling
• Utilize mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting equipment malfunctions and performing basic repairs when necessary

Skills

• Proven experience in warehouse distribution, order picking, and materials handling
• Proficiency in operating forklifts and pallet jacks
• Strong understanding of OSHA safety standards related to heavy equipment operation, as well as food safety and GMP protocol
• Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and RF scanners for order processing
• Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot basic equipment issues
• Knowledge of heavy lifting techniques and proper ergonomic practices
• Experience in shipping & receiving procedures within a construction or industrial setting
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail
• Prior warehouse supervisor experience is a plus for leadership responsibilities
• Good communication skills for coordinating with team members and supervisors
