Hands On Technician

Job Description

TEKsystems is seeking an Entry‑Level Cable Technician I to support commercial low‑voltage and structured cabling projects. This is a great opportunity for candidates looking to get started in the low‑voltage industry. No advanced experience required — training will be provided.

The Cable Technician I will assist senior technicians with cable installation, material handling, and basic labor tasks on job sites.

Responsibilities

• Pull and route cable
• Assist Cable Technicians II and senior technicians
• Run and handle materials
• Use basic hand and power tools
• Climb ladders and work at heights
• Help lay out and install cable tray, wireway, and other devices
• Assist with building telecom closets:
  • Mount backboards
  • Install racks and patch panels
  • Assist with grounding
• Assist with basic punchdown work (110/66 blocks)
• Support conduit installation and wire pulling
• Operate tools and equipment such as:
  • Cable cutters
  • Hammer drills
  • Compression tools
  • Other basic construction tools
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Follow all safety and job‑site rules

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Barker, NY.

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.00/hr.
