Travel Registered Nurse – Operating Room (OR)

Location: Potsdam, NY 13676

Assignment Length: 13 Weeks

Shift: Days – 3x12 (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)

Orientation: 16 Hours (Non-Billable)

Start Date: ASAP

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel assignment. This role involves circulating in the OR for a variety of surgical specialties. Scrubbing skills are a plus but not required. The facility offers a supportive environment and accepts first-time travelers .

Schedule & Call Requirements

• Shift: 3 shifts per week – 07:00 to 19:00

• On-Call Requirement: Fair share rotation (approximately 1:6)

• Must be able to report to the facility within 20–30 minutes for call

  • 20 minutes preferred for emergent C-sections

• Post-call recovery day typically provided

• Must participate in weekend, weekday, and holiday call rotations

• RTO must be approved prior to assignment start

Unit Details

• Unit Size: 5 OR rooms / 5 PACU beds

• Common Surgical Services:

  • General Surgery

  • Urology

  • OB/GYN

  • Orthopedics

  • Ophthalmology

  • Pain

  • Podiatry

• RN-to-Patient Ratio: 1:1

• Scrub Color: Grey (provided by the facility)

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of recent OR RN experience

• Active NY RN License (or compact if applicable at time of submission)

• ACLS Certification

• Must be comfortable taking call and responding quickly

Traveler Notes

• First-time travelers are welcome

• Must be reliable, strong communicator, and able to work independently and as part of a surgical team
