DENTAL ASSISTANT

DEPARTMENT: Dental Clinic

POSITION: Dental Assistant

SUPERVISOR: Dental Supervisor

HOURS: Full Time, Monday-Friday, 8:30a-4:30p

Responsibilities/Duties:

Act as chairside assistant to the dentist.

Assist the dental hygienists chairside and/or in work areas.

Assist the dental schedulers with clerical concerns when needed.

Expose and process quality radiographs as requested by the dentists or dental hygienists.

Pour study models

Keep track of inventory of supplies for the dental department and inform purchasing coordinator of needs.

Be responsible for sterilization of dental instruments following proper sterilization techniques.

Maintain work areas that are clean and safe meeting New York State Sanitary Code and of OSHA according to departmental standards.

Be responsible for general maintenance of equipment (i.e. handpieces, autoclave, etc.) as necessary and in accordance with established guidelines.

Be flexible with assisting at other Sitrin Dental office locations when requested.

Performs duties according to the highest ethical and moral standards, and in adherence with the facility’s corporate compliance plan and all applicable governing laws. Adheres to the facility’s confidentiality statement in accessing and safeguarding protected health information (PHI) of residents and employees, as necessary to perform job duties. Performs any other duties as requested by the Dental Supervisor.

High school graduate or equivalent. Experience preferred in general dentistry.

Completion of BOCES dental assisting program or commitment to do so.

Certification in dental assisting desirable but not required.

Value for high quality customer service standard with ability to effectively and courteously deal with the public and co-workers in a busy multi-task environment required.

Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of all patient related information.

Sufficient time management capabilities to accomplish assigned duties and prioritize among multiple tasks.

Familiarity with Microsoft Windows based software products particularly Microsoft Word.

Experience with MedEnt practice management software is a plus.

Demonstrated understanding and implementation of the core values of our organization relating to ethics, relationships and success as shown by daily actions.
