Summary:
Sid Harvey's is a national wholesale HVAC/R distributor. The company is privately held, and includes 80+ branch locations, a central distribution center and a manufacturing plant, across 20 states.
We have a current opening for a Purchasing Agent in our Garden City, NY office.
Hours are Monday to Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
The candidate for this position must have HVAC/R experience . He/She will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing equipment, parts, and accessories. Negotiate pricing and make purchasing decisions in accordance with company policies and budget constraints. Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to resolve any issues related to delivery, quality, or pricing discrepancies.
Must be proficient in excel.
Min 2 years HVACR experience needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Purchase quality products, equipment and parts used in heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, plumbing, hydronics and air movement, including tools, instruments, chemicals and installation and service products at the lowest possible price and in the correct quantities.
- Monitor inventory levels and determine purchasing needs.
- Monitor changes affecting supply and demand, track market conditions, price trends and/ or future markets.
- Prepare and process purchase orders.
- Review all confirmations for discrepancies including qtys. and costs and confirm delivery dates.
- Develop profitable purchasing strategies.
- Analyze and resolve purchasing issues and/or discrepancies.
- Manage price updates and determine how the changes will affect our sales. Work closely with the Pricing Dept. on these changes to protect our Gross Profit.
- Purchase during preseason programs to make us the most profitable.
- Take care of accounting issues quickly and correctly so we don't lose any discounts.
- Source new avenues for existing products and new lines.
- Work with Mitco on any items that they can source and make us more GP.
- Build and maintain positive, long term relationships with our vendors. This includes negotiating for better pricing, extra discounts and Special Price Quotes for certain customers.
- Able to nurture these relationships to maintain best pricing, quality of goods, timely delivery of product.
- Request Return Authorizations from vendors.
- Excellent verbal and written skills a must.
- Must be able to multitask.
- Must be organized and have excellent follow up skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word and proficient in Excel.
- Any other duties and responsibilities asked of by the Purchasing Manager.
- Must be able to pass a drug test.
Abilities and Physical Requirements:
Education: 2-year Associates Degree.
