WE ARE HIRING FOR TWO POSITIONS
DESI is actively seeking qualified candidates for the following special inspection roles
: Certified Welding Inspector / Certified Mechanical Inspector to perform special inspections on construction projects in accordance with applicable building codes, project specifications, and approved drawings.
Position 1 — Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
- Perform welding special inspections per ICC, AWS, AISC, and project specifications
- Inspect structural steel welding (shop and field); verify WPS, welder qualifications, and materials
- Review drawings and specifications for code compliance
- Identify non-conforming work and document deficiencies
- Prepare accurate daily inspection reports
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and project teams
Position 2 — Certified Mechanical Inspector
- Conduct mechanical special inspections per IMC, IFGC, and project specifications
- Inspect HVAC systems, ductwork, piping, and equipment supports
- Verify mechanical and fuel gas installations meet applicable code requirements
- Review drawings and specifications for code compliance
- Identify non-conforming work and document deficiencies
- Prepare accurate daily inspection reports
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and project teams
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must hold at least one of the following active ICC certifications:
- ICC Structural Welding Special Inspector — for the CWI role
- ICC Commercial Mechanical Inspector — for the Mechanical role
All candidates must also have:
- Knowledge of applicable codes (IBC, AWS D1.1, AISC, IMC, IFGC) relevant to their role
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Valid driver's license
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) credential (for welding candidates)
- Prior experience performing special inspections on structural or commercial projects
COMPENSATION
Competitive hourly pay based on experience and certifications. Both part-time and full-time schedules are available.
