Machinist

Responsibilities

• Utilize g-code and m-code to program, edit, and troubleshoot complex geometries on cnc mills and lathes while optimizing toolpaths through cam software

• Execute complete machine setups including the selection of cutting tools, installation of work-holding fixtures, and the calibration of tool and work offsets

• Perform precision manual machining tasks on bridgeport mills and engine lathes for one-off prototyping, repair work, and secondary operations like threading or boring

• Interpret technical blueprints and apply gd&t standards to ensure all components meet exact engineering specifications and tolerances as tight as .0005

• Conduct comprehensive quality control using micrometers, bore gauges, and height stands to perform and document first-piece and in-process inspections

• Manage the full production lifecycle from determining the sequence of operations for raw materials to final deburring and preventative machine maintenance

• Apply advanced knowledge of metallurgy to calculate specific speeds and feeds and grind custom tooling or sharpen drills for specialized material applications
