Compensation: Grade 16, Step A $58,990.00 - $64,984.56/yr.

The work involves the responsibility for performing beginning and middle-level professional engineering duties and liaison work in connection with the design, construction and maintenance of municipal projects. Work is performed under the general supervision of a higher-ranking Engineer who assigns, and reviews results through comments and inspection. The exercise of supervision is not normally a responsibility of the position. Does related work as required.

o Assists in planning and managing projects, designs, sanitary sewer systems and storm drainage systems and other municipal projects;

o Makes applications for government projects;

o Monitors construction projects;

o Advises on maintenance projects using sound engineering practices;

o Computes engineering data;

o Acts as Engineer-in-charge on minor construction projects;

o Assists in designing, sanitary, storm, water, lighting systems, recreational and architectural projects.

o Good knowledge of principles of physics and mathematics as applied to municipal engineering;

o Good knowledge of research techniques;

o Ability to perform complex technical engineering computations, rapidly and accurately;

o Ability to perform moderately difficult engineering studies, and prepare detailed, analytical reports;

o Ability to prepare detailed cost estimates, drawings and specifications:

o Ability to express concepts. drawings and specifications;

o Sound professional judgments;

o Industry and dependability;

o Initiative and resourcefulness;

o Capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

A.) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a bachelor's degree in Engineering; or

B.) Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered two-year college or technical school with an Associate's degree and two years of practical experience in the civil engineering field;

C.) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and five (5) years of practical experience in the civil engineering field; or

D.) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A), (B) and (C).

Note: Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be pro-rated toward meeting full-time experience requirement
