Staff Accountant

Mechanical Dynamics & Analysis (MD&A) headquartered in Latham, NY is a $400 Million Dollar business which provides power generation companies around the globe with a full-service OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) alternative for services, parts, and repairs. Our team is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our corporate finance team, to help ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance as our company continues to grow.

The Staff Accountant will play a key role in supporting day-to-day accounting operations, assisting with month-end close, preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, ensuring accuracy in financial data, as well as special projects needed to support the business. This position is ideal for someone with strong analytical skills, a passion for numbers, and a desire to grow within a dynamic finance team.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Prepare and post journal entries for month-end close
• Reconcile general ledger accounts
• Maintain and update financial records in accordance with GAAP
• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
• Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations
• Analyze variances and assist in budgeting and forecasting processes
• Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
• Perform other accounting duties and ad-hoc projects, as needed
• Assist in the documentation and execution of internal controls
• Data analysis projects, including research, and reporting of information for internal uses
• Help drive efficiency within the company through process improvement and automation

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 1–3 years of accounting experience preferred (internships included)
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
• Proficiency in Excel, ERP experience a plus
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
