Diesel Mechanic

The Diesel Mechanic plays a vital role in ensuring the reliability and safety of the company’s fleet and equipment, supporting daily operations and contributing to the overall success of the team. Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair company vehicles and equipment, including CDL vehicles (bucket trucks, large trucks, chip trucks), pick-up trucks, aerial lifts, brush chippers, and small engine equipment such as stump grinders, chainsaws, and blowers.
• Perform and document routine maintenance checks and required inspections, including aerial lift, DOT, and NY State inspections.
• Maintain the shop environment and assist crews with equipment repair needs as necessary.
• Order parts from various suppliers and manage inventory of tools, parts, and shop items.
• Oversee and support junior mechanics, providing guidance, training, and fostering a positive work environment.
• Ensure quality control on all repairs, confirming work is completed efficiently and to a high standard.
• Implement and adhere to all necessary safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) during daily tasks.

Qualifications

• Experience in truck mechanical repairs, diesel engines, and hydraulics required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred.
• Experience with annual inspections, diagnosis and repair, welding, and fabrication preferred.
• Bilingual skills are a plus.
