Position Summary:

The Program Director is responsible for the administration and leadership of the Master’s in Occupational Therapy program and for working with faculty to ensure student development and continued academic rigor. The Program Director is responsible for providing oversight of the program offerings on campus, and fieldwork sites, including responsibility for structured guidance around consistency of practices in delivery of curriculum, program outcomes and risk management. The Program Director is responsible for the academic quality of the program and ensuring alignment with ACOTE Education Policy and Accreditation Standards, NYSED and Maria College’s policies.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop an online modality for the program.
  • Provide leadership for specialized accreditation and college regional accreditation.
  • Attain and maintain ACOTE accreditation status including timely submission of candidacy documents, annual report, program fees, students’ verification process and other reports as requested
  • Recruit qualified faculty as needed to meet the needs of the program and curriculum
  • Coordinate student admissions processes, including collaboration with the Admissions Office
  • Participate in student recruitment, advisement, evaluation and career counseling
  • Supervise OTR program faculty, fieldwork coordinator, monitoring workloads and performance assign courses to faculty
  • Coordinate and supports inter-professional education between the program and other disciplines at Maria
  • Engage across professional and disciplinary programs in the development and growth of the curriculum to ensure meaningful collaborative opportunities in all aspects of the teaching and learning program
  • Use innovative instruction and technology in the development and delivery of the curriculum
  • Program development including assessment and program review.
  • Ensure adequate resources for the program
  • Ensure procedures for effectively managing all components of the OTR Program in accordance with the College’s policies and procedures, including program admissions, retention, and completion to ensure fair, equitable, and considerable treatment of prospective and enrolled students
  • Review and evaluate data from course and instructor evaluations, graduate exit interviews, alumni surveys, and employer surveys to ensure student outcomes and goals are achieved
  • Maintain communication and coordination of the program with the faculty, clinical instructors, and all individuals or disciplines involved with the program
  • Teach required courses in the curriculum in areas of expertise
  • Oversee budget and manage program resources ethically and responsible in accordance with college policy
  • Serve on committees and taskforces as requested by the Dean of the College
  • Serve on state or national professional committees as appropriate
  • Represents the program to the community and healthcare organizations
  • With support of the Dean of the College, develops and maintains an advisory board for the program
  • Maintain professional competence through practice, continuing education, scholarship and community service
  • Works with the Dean of the College and Institutional Advancement and collaborates with other departments to enhance corporate, employer, alumni, and other stakeholder relationships, thereby developing additional resource opportunities
  • Assist in other related areas as requested by the Dean of the College such as development of Master’s level program academic policies
  • Adhere to FERPA guidelines related to confidentiality of student information and records.
  • Ensure compliance with College policies, procedures and NYSED regulations and accreditor requirements
  • Assure effective program operations
  • In conjunction with college leadership assist as liaison with relevant external agencies to ensure compliance with regulatory matters and ensure the program meets the needs of the communities served
  • Maintain current knowledge of the professional discipline and educational methodologies
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Dean and outlined in the Maria College Faculty Handbook (as described in the duties and responsibilities)

Required:

  • Problem-solving, critical thinking, and research methodologies to tackle unstructured projects related to institutional effectiveness ·
  • Ability to work independently, practice time management, and assist with program-level assessment
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with other institutional entities for the growth and development of the program
  • Experience with organization and presentation of data using critical thinking to analyze and make program recommendations based on data
  • Working knowledge of accreditation requirements and protocol
  • Proficiency in Windows operating environment using MS Office applications (particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), e-mail, and internet programs.
  • Facility with MS Teams to conduct virtual meetings with students.
  • Intermediate competency in Windows operating environment using MS Office applications (particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint), e-mail and internet programs
  • Utilization of OTR equipment
  • Leveraging data, systems, communication and tools in a higher education setting to further the academic mission of the College
  • Understanding of and commitment to the mission of the College.
  • Familiarity with barriers to degree completion faced by nontraditional students.
  • Experience in working with a diverse study body.
  • Understanding of issues related to student development and effective interventions for retention and graduation of historically underrepresented and academically underprepared students in higher education.
  • Passion for excellence in teaching and learning
  • Evidence of proficiency in curriculum design, program evaluation, instruction, program administration, and academic advising
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills

Qualifications/Experience/Licenses/Registrations :

Doctoral Degree in relevant field from an accredited college or university

Experience teaching in a fully online academic program

All requirements commensurate with ACOTE requirements

Current NYS OTR license

Preferred

Experience as a program director in an ACOTE accredited master’s degree program

Salary: $100,000 - $125,000 (based on experience)
