Research & Development Chef
Location: New York Multi-Unit Gourmet Grocery
We are seeking a dynamic and hands-on R&D Chef to lead our culinary innovation efforts in our high-volume production kitchens. This role involves developing new recipes, executing innovative ideas, and implementing our culinary vision across all locations. This position is full-time.
About Us:Our kitchens produce a variety of gourmet products, including soups, salads, entrées, sauces, sandwiches, dressings, and desserts, all made from fresh ingredients. We pride ourselves on maintaining long-standing recipes while utilizing seasonal ingredients.
Key Responsibilities:Recipe Development & Implementation
- Product Integration: Work with new products entering the market daily, testing and developing recipes that highlight their unique qualities.
- Recipe Execution: Implement and standardize recipes across all locations, ensuring consistency in quality and presentation.
- Collaboration with Ownership: Partner closely with the owner to execute innovative culinary concepts that align with the brand vision.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all recipes meet brand standards for taste and presentation, maintaining the highest quality across all products.
- Seasonal Ingredient Expertise: Demonstrate knowledge of seasonal ingredients and how to properly utilize them in recipes to enhance flavors and ensure freshness.
- Repurposing Strategies: Develop creative uses for surplus ingredients to minimize waste, such as transforming day-old bread into croutons or utilizing vegetable trimmings in stocks.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative and manage projects autonomously.
- Familiarity with seasonal ingredients and their culinary applications.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and needs.
- Experience in high-volume kitchen operations preferred.
