Assistant merchant

The Assistant Merchant for Brooks Brothers serves as the backbone of the merchandising organization, supporting the execution of seasonal assortments and acting as the key liaison between cross-functional partners in production, marketing, design, allocation, and planning.

Responsibilities
  • Support Merchants in building and organizing assortments that align with the overall departmental strategy, driving increased profitability.
  • Analyze market trends to identify product opportunities and develop expertise in the competitive landscape.
  • Collaborate with Design and Production to develop product strategies that align with our IMU and AUC targets.
  • Partner with Planning and Allocation on seasonal investment strategies to ensure key initiatives and growth drivers are prioritized and supported.
  • Maintain ownership of all product information, establishing yourself as the go-to expert on product details.
  • Collaborate with key cross-functional teams to clearly communicate seasonal strategies and needs for the business.
  • Prepare and analyze detailed selling recaps to track performance, identify key drivers and challenges, and provide actionable insights that inform strategic decision-making.
  • Partner with Merchandise Coordinator to ensure all samples are where they need to be.
Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree; focus in Merchandising or a related field
  • 1+ years previous experience in retail merchandising.
  • Excellent organizational skills and high standards for process and order
  • Ability to work independently in a fast paced and collaborative environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Displays a sense of urgency; manages time efficiently and can meet tight deadlines
  • Strong multi-tasker; flexible to changing priorities
  • High attention to detail
  • Self-motivated and willing to seek out answers
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to position offered and work experience. Physical Requirements
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.

  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for up to 8 hours per day
  • Ability to constantly operate a computer, other office equipment and look at a monitor for up to 8 hours per day
  • Ability to clearly and accurately communicate and exchange information verbally, in writing, or through other means in person, telephonically, or through virtual communication methods
  • Ability to reach at or below shoulder level
  • Ability to carry equipment, move boxes/samples, etc.
  • For Stores & Distribution Centers: Bend, lift, open and move product and fixtures up to 50 lbs., as needed.
