Position Overview

The Shipping & Receiving Manager oversees end-to-end management of shipping, receiving, and inventory operations for a three-store operation while maintaining Ralph Lauren's high standards for product handling and quality control. This role supervises and develops the Shipping & Receiving department team, implementing standard operating procedures that align with company regulations and ensuring timely processing of all merchandise movements. The position serves as a critical link in maintaining product integrity within Ralph Lauren's retail supply chain through efficient coordination with store operations, merchandising teams, carriers, and vendors, directly impacting store performance and customer satisfaction.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Operations Management:

  • Oversee daily shipping, receiving, and inventory operations
  • Plan and manage all inbound/outbound shipments, including returns
  • Process and verify incoming merchandise against purchase orders
  • Monitor inventory accuracy and maintain detailed documentation
  • Optimize back of house space utilization and workflow
  • Monitor and maintain equipment and supplies
  • Resolve discrepancies in shipments, deliveries, and vendor/carrier issues

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Supervise and coordinate staff workflows
  • Train and develop team members on proper procedures and protocols
  • Lead training programs for new hires on shipping/receiving procedures
  • Develop and mentor team members

Standards & Compliance:

  • Establish and maintain standard operating procedures
  • Ensure proper handling, sorting, and storage of merchandise
  • Implement and enforce safety regulations and security procedures
  • Partner with Asset Protection team to ensure security compliance
  • Ensure compliance with Ralph Lauren operating standards

Cross-functional Partnerships:

  • Coordinate with store management, vendors, and carriers
  • Collaborate with Business Planning teams on inventory strategies
  • Partner with Creative Services on visual merchandising needs
  • Support new store openings and special projects
  • Manage department budget and expenses

Experience, Skills & Knowledge

  • 5+ years of shipping/receiving operations management experience
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Experience with retail inventory management systems
  • Experience managing in a luxury retail environment preferred
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management skills
  • Proficiency in inventory management systems and Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of shipping regulations and safety requirements
  • Knowledge of Ralph Lauren brand standards and quality expectations
  • Understanding of retail operations and merchandising
  • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Physical ability to lift/move merchandise
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to work flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays
