An Admissions Counselor serves as a primary recruiter of prospective students to St. Joseph's University, New York.
RESPONSIBLILITIES AND DUTIES
- Assist prospective first-year, transfer, adult, graduate and international students through the enrollment funnel.
- Manage an assigned recruitment territory
- Interview and host prospective students and meet with their families.
- Evaluate completed first-year and transfer applications for decision, and assign transfer credit as well as merit-based scholarship.
- Counsel prospective students via phone, zoom, email and texting platforms.
- Represent St. Joseph's University at on campus and off campus recruitment events.
- Act as liaison with departments or projects of assigned special programs.
- Assist with various admissions tasks as directed by the Office of Admissions.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge, skills and abilities
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Must be able to travel independently throughout New York City. Valid driver’s license preferred.
- Ability to be organized and pay attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize workload according to volume, urgency, cycle etc.
- Ability to work some evenings and occasional weekends.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the Google Suite (Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets)
EDUCATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree required, plus 1-2 years related experience preferred.
