Registered Nurse,

This Registered Nurse position requires a minimum of two years of experience in a hospital setting, focusing on complex medical-surgical patients, including those with orthopedic needs and long-term care requirements. The role involves providing direct patient care, utilizing advanced skills such as central line management, blood product administration, and managing various medical devices. Proficiency in electronic health records (Epic) and a strong understanding of hospital protocols are essential. The position requires weekend and evening work.

Responsibilities:

- Providing direct patient care to a diverse patient population with complex medical needs.
- Administering medications and treatments according to physician orders.
- Monitoring patients' vital signs, assessing their condition, and documenting findings in the electronic health record (Epic).
- Managing various medical devices, including pacemakers, feeding tubes, central lines, PICC lines, and surgical drains.
- Performing procedures such as phlebotomy, starting IVs, and administering blood products.
- Collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Responding to rapid response calls and participating in code teams.
- Managing high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, and portable oxygen tanks.
- Performing tracheostomy management and adhering to isolation precautions.
- Providing wound care, including the use of wound vacs.
- Managing patient ratios of 1:5 to 1:7, with a required proficiency in 1:6 ratios.
- Performing duties as a charge nurse (as needed).
- Utilizing Telemetry monitoring.

Required Skills & Certifications:

- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York.
- Minimum of two years of experience in a hospital setting.
- Experience with a patient ratio of 1:6 (ability to manage 1:5 to 1:7).
- BLS certification.
- Proficiency in Medical-Surgical nursing, including experience with telemetry, ortho trauma, and total joint replacements.
- Experience with various medical devices (pacemakers, feeding tubes, central lines, PICC lines, surgical drains, HFNC, etc.).
- Skill in medication administration, IV starts, blood product administration, and phlebotomy.
- Proficiency in electronic health record documentation (Epic).
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

- Experience in a complex care unit.
- Charge nurse experience.

Special Considerations:

- Must have a New York RN license in hand.
- Must be proficient in Epic.
- Weekend and evening work required (every other weekend).
