Duties Description Under the direct supervision of the Administrative Specialist 1, the Office Assistant 2 will perform duties including but not limited to: process Police Accident Report data used by multiple departments; complete the sale of Accident Reports to the public; process the Request for Donations forms from Fire and Ambulance Companies servicing the Thruway; assist in the operations for the LCV/Tandem program; process incoming Special Hauling Permits; and process applications for the Advertising Device Permitting program.Additional duties will include making decisions based on procedures defined by management; the primary contact for customer service activities including customer responses to inquiries derived from the Authority's mobile application for Traffic Operations; and data tracking.

Minimum Qualifications TRANSFER QUALIFICATIONS FOR CURRENT STATE EMPLOYEES: Current New York State employees with one year or more of qualifying permanent service allocated to salary grade 7 or above and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the NYS Civil Service Law.Provisional Appointment Pending Examination:Current New York State Thruway Authority employee with one year or more of qualifying permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as an office assistant, clerical, or keyboarding title allocated to Grade 6 or higher. Please visit for additional information on state examinations.Non-Competitive Promotion (NCP):If there are three or fewer qualified candidates interested in appointment to this position, the appointing authority will request approval from the NYS Department of Civil Service to fill this position via a non-competitive promotion (NCP) examination, pursuant to Section 52.7 of the Civil Service Law. In order to be eligible for the NCP, candidates must meet the following qualifications:Current New York State Thruway Authority employee with one year or more of qualifying permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as an office assistant, clerical, or keyboarding title allocated to Grade 6 or higher. Qualifying titles are available at: PUBLIC AND/OR NY HELPS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: One year of clerical experience.This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply.At a future date, it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in an NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.

Additional Comments This is a Teamsters position. ADDITIONAL PAY INFORMATION:The salary range for this position includes all applicable annual components of pay which are: Base Pay Range from Hiring Rate $39,737 up to Job Rate $56,710.Recruitment & Retention Pay: $7,000.ELIGIBILITY FOR EMPLOYMENT:All potential candidates for this position must be legally eligible to work in the United States at the time of appointment and throughout your employment with the New York State Thruway Authority.
