Kitchen Porter/Cleaner

Join our Flagship Bakery in Greenwich Village! We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Kitchen Porter/Cleaner to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen environment, ensuring that our chefs and decorators can focus on mixing, baking, and decorating cakes and other treats.

We are looking for candidates available for full time (40 hours a week). Ideally Tuesday-Saturday.
Shifts are 3PM -11 PM.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dish area, including washing dishes, pots, pans, and sheet trays.
• Sweeping and mopping all areas in the kitchen and decorator areas.
• Taking out the trash and breaking down cardboard properly, in accordance to NYC standards.
• Properly closing the kitchen, working from a checklist to ensure that all tasks and responsibilities are addressed.
• Monitoring/cleaning often neglected places like under tables and shelving.
• Being pro-active and able to complete work without supervision.
• Ensure that all kitchen equipment is cleaned and stored properly after use.
• Follow health and safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a kitchen environment (hotel, restaurant, catering) is preferred but not mandatory.
• Strong work ethic with a willingness to learn and take direction from culinary staff.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
• Physical stamina to stand for long periods and perform tasks that may require lifting or moving items up to 50 pounds.
• A passion for food service and a sense of urgency for each task.
