Position Description : Controller

Basic Function: New York City based company seeks to hire a controller who will be accountable for the accounting operations of the company, inclusive of the production of monthly financial statements, KPI reports, maintenance of internal controls, implementation of budgets, variance analysis and reporting results in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.

The Company seeks to fill the position with a pragmatic candidate who can recommend and execute change.

Principal Responsibilities include the following areas:

Management

· Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures

· Oversee the operations of the accounting department including accounts receivable and

accounts payable, including the design of an organization structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives

· Oversee the value-added production, logistics and warehouse operations

Transactions

· Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely to anticipate all trade discounts

· Manage and reduce accounts receivable DSO

· Maintain the general ledger and all sub-ledger accounts

Reporting

· Issue timely and complete financial statements within 15 days of month end

· Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics

· Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts

· Analyze results compared to budget and report significant variances to management

Compliance

· Coordinate annual financial statements and tax returns with accountants

· Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements, sales tax and corporate tax filings

Supervision

· Accounting personnel
