Duties Description Under the direction of a Manager of IT Services 2, the Information Technology Specialist 4 will be responsible for supporting the Department of Health's vital applications and ensuring their smooth operation. As the Application Support Manager, you will act as a lead for application deployments while building a strong collaborative relationship between the Department of Health and Information Technology Services (ITS) by understanding their unique needs, providing proactive support, and ensuring seamless communication.The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Reporting to the Manager of Product Operations the Application Support Manager willKey Responsibilities:- Directly manage Business Criticality 1 applications by overseeing a 25-server Windows environment.- Supervise contractors providing leadership and technical guidance.- Coordinate with multiple vendors and internal teams (F5, Database, Akana, LDAP, Networking) to ensure timely resolution of application issues.- Leads the successful deployment of new software releases from development to production environments.- Utilize a suite of monitoring tools (examples: SCOM, AKANA, Dynatrace, and SPLUNK) to ensure application performance and stability.- Configure and tune Internet Information Services (IIS) on Windows servers to ensure optimal application performance and resource utilization.- Develop and maintain deployment code using PowerShell scripting to streamline processes.- Perform Microsoft Server OS upgrades to comply with N-1 requirements and maintain system security and performance.- Orchestrate and manage the transition of multiple vendors.- Oversee code deployment for a portfolio of additional Windows applications, including.- Perform full range of supervisory duties.

Minimum Qualifications Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 3 (Programming) or Information Technology Specialist 3 OR in a position at the SG23 or higher deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of Civil Service Law. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in advancement of more than two salary grades or one M-grade.Note: If you are on the examination eligible list for the position title in this location, you do not need to respond to this posting unless you are also eligible for appointment by one of the qualifications listed above. Candidates must be reachable on the current eligible list for this title in order to be list appointed.
