What is a manager – Electric Substation Planning?
This is a managery position within the Substation Engineering and Operations group. The manager – Electric Substation Planning is responsible for superviseing the planning, scheduling, prioritization, and coordination of the construction, operation, and maintenance of electric substation equipment. The manager – Electric Substation Planning will monitor the overall progress of projects across the system to ensure prosperous completion within established timeframes and budget, and the proper review, verification, and allocation of invoices related to project work.



What does a manager – Electric Substation Planning do?

»Plans, schedules, coordinates, supervises & monitors work assignments of the Substation Planners.

»Assists in managing the group’s capital and operating work plans and provides regularly/monthly input regarding variations from the established work plan to the Manager of Electric Substation Engineering and Operations; provides budget variation explanations and facilitates preparation of the monthly variation reports and year-end projections.

»Monitors the annual, monthly, and weekly work plans and the progress of projects to ensure prosperous completion within the established timeframes and budget; verifies that invoices are allocated accurately while maintaining appropriate documentation.

»Assists in project material reconciliation and project closeout.

»Coordinates progression and refresher training as well as all other required appointments for Substation Operations.

»Identifies opportunities for productivity improvement and works with the Foremen/Forewomen and Directors to implement changes to current processes.

»Provides support for storm/emergency restoration efforts.



What does it take to be a manager – Electric Substation Planning?

Required:

»Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study and practical practice in engineering, planning, scheduling, project management, and/or accounting. In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, an associate’s degree in a related field of study and 3+ years of practical practice in engineering, planning, scheduling, project management and/or accounting.

»Strong computer expertise including proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the capability to lgain new computer software programs quickly

»Strong verbal and written communication expertise; communicates in a clear and concise manner

»Strong problem-solving capability, basic mechanical and math expertise, and a high level of attention to detail

»Strong organizational and recordkeeping expertise to ensure that necessary documentation is accurately maintained

»Excellent analytical, project management and evaluation expertise

» capability to multitask and operate under pressure in a fast-paced work environment; must be proactive and flexible while handling multiple assignments and meeting deadlines

»Must be a self-motivated team player

»Valid driver’s license

Preferred:

»Field of study in engineering, accounting, or a related field.

»Familiarity with Liquid Planner.

»Previous practice in the utility and/or construction industry.

» managery practice and/or practice directing field work.
